Responding to the Downturn in the Recycling Markets workshop, Holiday Inn Select, Oakville, February 5.
This time we decided to go with on-line evaluations to save paper. It is always a bit rushed at the end of the day and we hoped this may give people
a chance to consider the day a bit more and more time to provide more comments in their evaluations.
It is becoming clear to us that the demand for our recent workshops means we need to be thinking about bigger facilities.
The number of people who ended up attending this workshop made things a little crowded for some
and we appreciate your patience.
Most of you loved the food and venue, and everyone felt there were plenty of opportunites for discussion.
AMRC 2008 Fall Conference, Queen's Landing, Niagara-on-the-Lake, October 22-24, 2008
Note: this time we had a brand new location for you to enjoy - and you did! The feedback from your evaluation forms tells us you loved the facility - and the food!
This fall, we made a special effort to allow more time for networking and trade show visits and you very mucb appreciated this.
Getting the most comments were the product stewardship session and the green events sessions - both of which you found enlightening as well as informative.
Our guest speaker Dave Howlett was big hit and will be looking forward to your thank you notes (you had to be there...)
AMRC Spring Workshop and Annual General Meeting, Hockley Valley Resort, May 14-15, 2008
Note: once again the feedback from your evaluation forms was very positive. The golf and the hiking options were appreciated - despite the weather -
although many felt there should have been prizes for the hikers, too - duly noted.
Last year, some of you felt we tried to pack too much into the agenda, so we spaced things out a bit this year, with longer breaks and lunch.
Several of you commented that this helped networking opportunities and trade show visiting.
The organics and multi-res sessions garnered the most comments, with the annual general meeting being appreciated for its brevity.
Some however, would have liked more financial information. Finally, as usual, you loved the food and the ambience.
AMRC Material Quality Workshop, October 30, 2007
Note: feedback from your evaluation forms was very encouraging with the most used word being "informative".
You liked the fact that the moderator kept things moving and on time (thanks, Phil).
Many of you appreciated the breadth of the perspectives and were particularly interested in hearing industry's side.
We made a point of having a Q&A session at the end of each session, instead of holding questions till the end of the day,
and many of you felt this was a good move and appreciated the moderator repeating the questions from the floor so all could hear.
- We are planning to bring in question cards for our next workshop so that questions may be handed in at the end
of each session and the moderator will then read the questions. This should eliminate the risk of some not hearing
and should make it easier for those who are reticent about speaking in public.
Clearly, the number of people who ended up attending the workshop made things little crowded for some
and we appreciate your patience. We always try to anticipate last-minute attendees and non-registrants but this
one ended up being our biggest non-spring workshop yet. As noted in the workshop, we are looking at bringing in a fee scale
that will encourage people to register well ahead of time. This makes it easier to organize seating and food.
Most of you loved the food, although a couple felt kebabs and Mediterranean salad was a bit exotic
and would have preferred sandwiches and cold cuts.
- We have always had really good food at our workshops and we plan to keep it that way.
(We truly appreciate the time you take to complete our evaluation forms. With the MURFE giveaway we were able to persuade
many more of you to take the time to complete the forms, giving us a lot more confidence that the we have a true representation
of those present.)
AMRC/CCC Organics - Grow on Workshop, April 5, 2007
AMRC 2007 Spring Workshop and AGM, February 14-16, 2007
Note: we are pleased to report that the feedback from your evaluation forms was very positive.
We went with daily evaluations this year and this gave us more and better insights into how we did.
Thanks for your co-operation! Some felt we tried to pack too much into the agenda, meaning some sessions were a bit rushed.
Some felt that some presenters tried to say too much on one slide and that the size of print was too small. As usual with Hockley
Valley, you loved the food and the ambience.
AMRC/OWMA Co-operative Contract Design, October 4, 2006
Note: feedback from your evaluation forms was very positive. A couple of attendees felt that the print on some of the slides
could have been larger and we will encourage future presenters to use larger fonts and to highlight
particularly significant slide details in their presentations. You also loved the food!
(We appreciate the time you take to complete our evaluation forms. All future proceedings listings here will have similar feedback.)
