The landfill user pay system is
generally used by the IC&I Sector. There is a charge
of $1.50 for the first five bags; additional bags are
charged for by the tonne. Fees are $75.00/tonne at the
landfill site and $150.00/tonne at the transfer station
(there are 3 landfill sites and one transfer station in
Northumberland County). In January 1999, a county-side
Curbside User Pay System will be implemented for garbage
pick up. This program will require residents to affix
tags to all bags of garbage set out for collection. Cost
per tag will be $1.50 with a 3 bag limit per set out. |
