can be purchased. |

receive 80 tags per year which are covered on their tax
bill. If more tags are required, they must be purchased. |

The landfill user pay
system is generally used by the IC&I Sector. There is
a charge of $1.50 for the first five bags; additional
bags are charged for by the tonne. Fees are $75.00/tonne
at the landfill site and $150.00/tonne at the transfer
station (there are 3 landfill sites and one transfer
station in Northumberland County). In January 1999, a
county wide Curbside User Pay Program will be implemented
for garbage pick up. This program will require residents
to affix tags to all bags of garbage set out for
collection. Cost per tag will be $1.50 with a 3 bag limit
per garbage collection; additional bags must be taken to
the landfill by the owner. |

own landfill site. The disposal fee covers the transport
of the waste from the transfer station to a licensed
landfill site and the tipping fees at that landfill. |
