Landfill User Pay Programs: The following municipalities charge residents per bag of garbage at the landfill

In Douro, residents can set out 1 bag and businesses can set out 2 bags per week at no direct charge; in Dummer, residents can set out1 1/2 bags and businesses can set out 6 bags per week at no direct charge; additional bags can be purchased. Drummond-North Elmsley, Township   $1.00/tag (Drummond) The townships of Drummond and North Elmsley have recently amalgamated and each has their own waste collection and disposal system. In North Elmsley, residents can only set out 3 bags per collection, there are no tags. In Drummond, residents receive 80 tags per year which are covered on their tax bill. If more tags are required, they must be purchased. Waste collection and disposal as well as recycling. Reduce waste, increase recycling and diversion.
Mono, Township   $1.00/bag Residents receive 104 free bags per year at no direct charge; additional bags are $1.00 each. Revenues go into landfill site funds. Reduce waste, increase recycling and diversion.
Northumberland, County   Landfill site: $1.50/bag for first 5 then $75.00/tonne (landfill) or $150/tonne (transfer station). In 1999 curbside: $1.50/tag. The landfill user pay system is generally used by the IC&I Sector. There is a charge of $1.50 for the first five bags; additional bags are charged for by the tonne. Fees are $75.00/tonne at the landfill site and $150.00/tonne at the transfer station (there are 3 landfill sites and one transfer station in Northumberland County). In January 1999, a county wide Curbside User Pay Program will be implemented for garbage pick up. This program will require residents to affix tags to all bags of garbage set out for collection. Cost per tag will be $1.50 with a 3 bag limit per garbage collection; additional bags must be taken to the landfill by the owner. Smith, Township   $1.00/bag Residents are charged $1.00/bag with a ten bag maximum.    
Tyendinaga, Township   $2.00/bag Residents are charged a $2.00/bag disposal fee. There is a maximum lift weight of 18 kg per bag, there is no volume limit for how much people can drop off. Waste collection and disposal. The Township of Tyendinaga does not have its own landfill site. The disposal fee covers the transport of the waste from the transfer station to a licensed landfill site and the tipping fees at that landfill. Reduce waste, increase recycling and diverision as well as cover the costs of shipping the garbage out of the municipality.
